Basil, Balsamic, and Rye. See that? Balsamic Vinegar isn't just for salads anymore.

Use the best balsamic vinegar you can find, although it doesn't have to be the rare and very expensive aged balsamic. Make the syrup the day before you want to serve this cocktail and keep it refrigerated until ready to use.

B B & R

2 oz Liberty Pole Rye Whiskey

1 oz Balsamic and Basil Syrup*

1-1/2 oz ginger beer

Shake the whiskey and the syrup on ice. Stir in the ginger beer. Strain into a Nick & Nora glass. Garnish with basil leaves.

*Balsamic & Basil Syrup

1 cup water

1 cup balsamic vinegar

1-1/2 cup sugar

Bring to a boil to dissolve sugar.

Remove from heat.

Drop a handful of basil into the warm syrup.

Allow to steep for 6 hours. Overnight is even better.

Strain off basil leaves and refrigerate until ready to use.
