The idea for hot chocolate came when Ellen watched Jim shovel the snow at the distillery and wanted to give him something special to warm him up. She remembered a date they had when they first met. They had gone cross-country skiing and ended in the resort lodge in front of a big fire. The hot chocolate they shared that day was thick and luscious and nicely spiked.
Ingredients
3 oz Liberty Pole Spirits Bourbon
1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/4 cup chocolate chips 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 tsp chili powder 2 cups whole milk
Serving size: 2 drinks
Add the cocoa powder, chocolate chips, sugar, chili powder, and milk to a small saucepan. Heat over medium high, whisking constantly to dissolve the cocoa and sugar and melt the chips. Bring the hot chocolate to a steam–not a boil–then remove from heat. Add the bourbon and divide the hot chocolate between two mugs. Top with marshmallows and drizzle with caramel sauce.
